Get your final turns of the season in! Mammoth will offer lift access out of Main Lodge from 7:30am-2pm through Monday, May 28.

Mammoth Mountain Bike Park

The Bike Park will open the lower-mountain trails on Saturday, May 26. These trails will be serviced by the Bike Park's uphill shuttle from The Village to Main Lodge. The shuttle will run from 9am-5:30pm and value season tickets for adults will be $35. Tickets, rentals, and repairs can all be found at the Main Lodge Adventure Center.

Adventure Center

Take a scenic gondola ride to the Top of California! Scenic rides will run from 7:30am-5pm during the Memorial Day Weekend.

The Adventure Center is also home to our Climbing Wall and Kids Zipline, which opens on May 26.

Sierra Star Golf Course

Sierra Star opens for golf on May 18. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens are all in great shape and the championship course is just begging you to get in some early-season rounds!

Online reservations systems opens for USS Arizona Memorial in Hawaii

Planning a trip to the USS Arizona Memorial on Oahu is now easier with the introduction of a new advance online reservations system. For $1.50 each, tickets can be purchased up to three months in advance for as many as 65 people in a group via Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.

Complimentary tickets are still available for same day walk-in guests at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. Another new ticket option is the Passport to Pearl Harbor, a one stop deal for visitors looking to get the entire Pearl Harbor experience for one low price.

The 'Passport' provides access to all primary Pearl Harbor historic sites for $55 per adult and $30 per child. BikeFest Tour of Long Beach set for May 5

On Saturday, May 5, the 4th Annual BikeFest Tour of Long Beach presented by Wells Fargo, will bring cycling-related fun and festivities to Downtown Long Beach. In addition to four separate rides that appeal to cyclists of all skill levels, this event includes an all-day, family-friendly Finish Line Festival. Proceeds will support pediatric cancer research at Miller Children's Hospital Long Beach, as they have since 2010.

The Tour of Long Beach invites amateur cyclists and bicycle enthusiasts to participate in one of four rides: the four-mile Family Fun Ride; 31 or 62-mile picturesque Metric Century Ride; or the 100-mile Cruz Gran Fondo, which loops twice through Long Beach, Cypress, Seal Beach and Signal Hill. The Cruz Gran Fondo is new to the Tour of Long Beach this year and is named after Long Beach's own U.S. Olympian, former Pro Tour Cyclist and Long Beach Bike Ambassador, Tony Cruz.

The Finish Line Festival is open to participating riders as well as the general public and offers a day of fun for the entire family. This free event includes live entertainment, a kids' activity area, BMX stunts, a free bike valet, vendor fair and food stands.

Da Kine Stand Up Paddle offers lessons on Napili Bay

Da Kine Stand Up Paddle has just introduced stand up paddle boarding (SUP) lessons on Napili Bay.

The peaceful, reef-protected bay on Maui's west side is the ideal site for SUP lessons, generally offering calm, safe waters for a great introduction to the popular sport, which has taken the world by storm.

Stand up paddle boarding (or stand up paddle surfing, when done with waves) has its roots in Hawaii as an ancient form of surfing and has reemerged in recent years as one of the fastest growing sports around the world.

"One thing that has made SUP so popular--it's easier to learn than surfing," says Tom Ockerman, Owner of Da Kine Stand Up Paddle. "My kids and I go out as much as we can. You only need one thing--need to know how to swim."

All SUP lessons are two hours in length. Minimum age is 12 years old, although younger students might be accepted, depending on their swimming skills. Point Reyes National Park celebrates 50th anniversary with trails challenge

Point Reyes National Seashore Association in partnership with the National Park Service announced the 2012 Point Reyes Trails Challenge today.

This self-paced challenge is a rewarding way to both celebrate and support the park during the Seashore's 50th anniversary.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for people to get up close and personal with Point Reyes National Seashore," said Superintendent Cicely Muldoon. "The Trails Challenge will restore habitat, improve the trail system, and introduce a whole new generation to this amazing national park."

The Trails Challenge will run from June 2 through Nov. 1and support the Point Reyes Trails Trust, a long term effort to restore and enhance the park's trail network.

Registration is free and participants begin earning a Trails Challenge T-shirt and other premiums with a minimum of $50 in pledges.
